Scuba diving in Brazil has become an increasingly popular activity, with several diving centers, courses and related entities in many Brazilian locations. In this site, we offer information on a few sites that are appreciated by divers in Brazil.

When planning your diving trip to Brazil, it is advisable to contact only diving operators or schools certified by the Brazilian Confederation of Fishing and Underwater Sports (or Confederação Brasileira de Pesca e Desportos Subaquáticos, CBPDS - the site is in Portuguese only), which is the federal entity in charge of regulating diving and fishing in Brazil, as a member of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS). Throughout this section we'll point out a few operators certified by CBPDS. We recommend that you make sure those operators are still certified when you contact them.

Underwater fishing and line fishing in Brazil requires a specific license granted by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment (IBAMA). The diving operators usually can assist you in getting one. Keep in mind, though, that in certain areas fishing is forbidden (such as in environmental preservation areas). Keep in mind that wreck diving requires a high degree of experience in diving and should be carried out only with advanced training.
